Pharmacy Awareness

The vision of the Pharmacy Awareness chair of NAPSA is:

"To promote the profession of pharmacy to students, other health professionals and the wider community and, in doing so, make them aware of the importance of the         role of pharmacists in primary health care, the provision of health information and of their involvement in overall long term health care, the community’s health status         and quality of life."

To this end NAPSA run two main events that TAPS participate in annually, the Vampire Cup blood drive, and Charity Cup. Many of TAPS' events for the year centre around these.

A bit about Vampire Cup..

Picture
Vampire Cup is NAPSA's annual blood drive. Each year the 16 branches of NAPSA battle it out to donate the most blood based on branch member numbers. TAPS is quite fond of this beaten up little chalice and as such we like to win, so when it comes to Vampire Cup time expect us hounding you for your blood.

Last year well over 50% of our members donated and we saved many lives, something that we intend to do again next time around.

Charity Cup

Charity Cup is another national NAPSA run event in which all the NAPSA branches compete to raise the most money for a charity of NAPSA's choice. In 2012 TAPS ran three bakesales over a week and raised over $600 for the Day of Difference foundation. This year we raised around $1000 for Day of Difference.

Bakesales and BBQs is where it's at for TAPS when it comes to Charity Cup.
