NAPSA
The National Australian Students' Pharmacy Association
http://www.napsa.org.au/
NAPSA is a national organisation that exists to represent the interests of Australian pharmacy students. NAPSA links 16 local branches such as TAPS together. It is completely student run just like TAPS and represents aroud 3500 students nation wide. If you are a member of TAPS then you are also a member of NAPSA.
NAPSA is run by the national council which consists of all the branch presidents and all the NAPSA liason chairs from the 16 branches. This means that all up there is 32 national councillors. This council then elects an executive committee (president, vice president, treasurer and secretary) and six committee chairs (education, rural and indigenous, publications, indutrial affairs, pharmacy awareness and IPSF) from within the council. The role of each of these chairs is explained in full on the NAPSA website (link above).
NAPSA is well respected amongst many industry and government groups and as such plays an important role in voicing student opinion on current issues. If you want to discuss anything happening within the pharmacy profession that you think will impact students or the future of the profession then get in contact with the TAPS president or NAPSA liason chair and have a chat.
By becoming a member of TAPS you will recieve the NAPSA monthly enewsletter ePlacebo. This publication is a good place to keep up to speed with NAPSA news.
